Modern Slavery Statement
Sutton Movers Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Sutton Movers has taken, and will continue to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. Sutton Movers is committed to conducting business ethically, responsibly, and with integrity in all our relationships.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
Sutton Movers maintains a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, human trafficking, and exploitation. We will not knowingly engage with any individual, contractor, or organisation that is involved in or connected to such practices. All employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers are expected to comply with this policy and act in a way that upholds human rights and fair working practices.
Our leadership team is responsible for promoting a culture where exploitation is never accepted and where concerns about unethical behaviour can be raised without fear of retaliation. Any breach of this policy is treated as a serious matter and may result in disciplinary action, including termination of contracts or working relationships.
Our Operations and Supply Chain
Sutton Movers provides moving and relocation services, operating through a combination of directly employed staff and carefully selected third-party partners and suppliers. Our supply chain includes providers of vehicles, fuel, equipment, packaging materials, storage facilities, and various professional and support services.
We recognise that certain sectors and regions may present higher risks of modern slavery. As part of our ongoing risk assessment, we monitor our supply chain, focusing particular attention on labour-intensive activities, temporary labour, and subcontracted services.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We aim to work only with suppliers and partners who share our commitment to human rights and ethical conduct. Supplier due diligence forms a core part of our approach to preventing modern slavery. Before entering into or renewing supplier relationships, we assess their labour practices, working conditions, and compliance with applicable laws.
Where appropriate, Sutton Movers conducts supplier audits and requests supporting documentation to verify compliance with our standards. These audits may include reviewing policies on employment, recruitment, wages, working hours, and health and safety. If a supplier is unable or unwilling to meet our requirements, we will seek to address the issues within a defined timeframe or, where necessary, end the relationship.
Policies, Training, and Awareness
Our modern slavery stance is supported by internal policies and codes of conduct that set expectations for ethical behaviour and respect for human rights. These policies are communicated to relevant staff as part of onboarding and ongoing training.
Training for managers and other key personnel includes guidance on identifying potential indicators of modern slavery, understanding the risks within our sector, and knowing how to respond appropriately to concerns or incidents. We are committed to continually improving staff awareness and reinforcing our zero-tolerance message.
Reporting Concerns and Protection
Sutton Movers encourages anyone working for or with us to speak up if they suspect that modern slavery or related abuses may be occurring in our business or supply chains. Concerns can be raised internally to managers or senior leaders, or through existing reporting channels established for ethical and compliance issues.
We will treat all reports seriously and investigate them promptly and sensitively. We are committed to protecting those who report concerns in good faith from victimisation, retaliation, or any adverse consequences. Where modern slavery is identified or strongly suspected, we will take immediate action, which may include notifying relevant authorities and supporting affected individuals.
Monitoring, Accountability, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our modern slavery commitments rests with our senior management team, who ensure that appropriate procedures, risk assessments, and controls are in place. We keep our practices under regular review to identify areas for improvement and adapt to emerging risks and best practice guidance.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least once every twelve months and updated where necessary to reflect changes in our operations, supply chain, or legal requirements. The updated statement will be approved at senior level and communicated within the business and to relevant external stakeholders.
Through ongoing vigilance, collaboration with our suppliers, and a firm zero-tolerance stance, Sutton Movers is dedicated to helping eradicate modern slavery and ensuring that our business contributes positively to the lives and rights of all people involved in our operations.
